Song Shan

Song Shan is a breathtaking mountain in Henan province, which is now on the World Heritage List because of its geological treasures and cultural role. It is the home of the first Shaolin Temple, established 1,600 years ago, where Shaolin Kung Fu started. It was once a place where masters taught knowledge of secret martial arts, but today the temple is a tourist attraction and a well-liked destination for pilgrims and martial artists. Currently seventy martial arts students have the honor of living there, and spending their days practicing their craft in the hidden bases in the valleys. They also teach in the Kung Fu academies in the surroundings of the church, aiming to pass on the culture and philosophy of Zen Buddhism and to train new martial artists skilled in their strict programs.
